ACCESO Celebrates Its Tenth Anniversary

Some 100 people joined together to celebrate Proyecto ACCESO's 10th anniversary at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park on March 3, 2010.

California Western Dean Steven Smith talked of the legacy of the late Professor Janeen Kerper, a co-founder of Proyecto ACCESO who died in January 2003, and the role that ACCESO has played in strengthening the rule of law in Latin America.

Professor James Cooper, Director of Proyecto ACCESO, was joined by ACCESO Team membesr Lilia Velasquez, Marina Shoupe and Marcela Guadiana and others from as far as Bogóta, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, Tijuana and Toronto to remember the more than many workshops over ten years that have empowered legal professionals from North, Central and South America to provide more access to justice and increase the general public's confidence in the administration of judicial procedures.

As part of the celebration, the new ACCESO Vision production for the US Department of Justice - Intellectual Property Piracy: The Challenges for Latin America - was screened.
