IP Project with the Department of Justice

Proyecto ACCESO has been commissioned by the Overseas, Prosecutorial, Development and Assistance Training program at the Department of Justice to direct and produce a training DVD for law enforcement officials about the menace that Intellectual Property piracy poses to the health and safety of people throughout the Americas. Piracy is also a threat to the cultural patrimony and musical and artistic development around Latin America.
For over a decade, Proyecto ACCESO has worked with California Western School of Law faculty, San Diego Bench and Bar, and government officials to train judicial and law enforcement officials around Latin America in new legal skills.
In September 2004, Proyecto ACCESO created Intellectual Property Week with the U.S. State Department, partnering with the Departments of Justice and homeland security to train Chilean customs, tax, police and prosecutors in new skills to prosecute violation of Intellectual Property Rights.
Proyecto ACCESO, working with the International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI) and the U.S. Embassy in Chile is executing a national contest on script writing in Chile in 2008 to educate school children (ages 9-13) about the important Intellectual Property rights.
Proyecto ACCESO has produced training videos, public service announcement and developed other new media to educate the legal sector and the general public. Proyecto ACCESO is working with the U.S. Embassies in Argentina and Paraguay on an Intellectual Property Week in 2009.
Working with the DOJ, Latin American government law enforcement authorities, industry and artist stakeholders, Proyecto ACCESO shall develop and produce a new video about Intellectual Property piracy in Latin America which shall feature law enforcement officials, industry representatives, artists, government spokespeople, and jurists and other experts.
Interviews and performances by Latin America's musical, film and other artists, including Mexico's Bostitch and Fussible, Bolivia's Oscar Garcia, Paraguay's Berta Rojas are all planned for inclusion in the DVD.
