Advance Oral Advocacy in Quito

Proyecto ACCESO is assisting a new generation of public defenders and other lawyers who work with
non-governmental organizations to function effectively in thisnew system with new skills and tools to protect the fundamental civil rights.

" A big win for Superdefenders
"

Lawyers from the Public Defenders Office that participate as instructors for Projecto ACCESSO assume the defense on one of the most symbolic oral trials since the start of the Reform in Chile. Trial against three Native leaders Mapuches, accused as presumed authors of threats and terrorist fires.





On Tuesday March 4, 2003, international diplomats, prosecutors, public defenders, ministry of justice officials, legal educators, and law students came together in Santiago, Chile to celebrate the life and legacy of Janeen Kerper. ccc
The Chilean Public Defenders Oficce has started two programs to facilitate an Oral Advocacy course in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Proyecto ACCESO congratulates Judge Mike Town's new granddaughter....the parents are his daughter - Jessy - and son-in-law Mark.    

 
 

On December 15, 2002, ACCESO with its partners, GTZ, CEJIP, and the Ministries of Justice of both Chile and Bolivia, commissioned a train to travel from La Paz, Bolivia to Arica, Chile.


Mabel Antezana, the Cochabamba wonder woman private lawyer, has joined the ACCESO Southern Cone training team.

A consummate professional with great attention to detail, Carmen Gloria was a popular teacher in the Oral Advocacy program at the Colegio de Abogados.




Following the inauguration of the Reform in Arica, Chile on Monday December 16, 2002, the ACCESO indigenous project team left the Epicentro Uno to undertake an Inter-Cultural Negotiation workshop with members of the Aymara community in the First Region.
From September 23 to 27, 2002, one ACCESO team hit San Jose, Costa Rica for its third annual Oral Advocacy I training.

From September 23 to October 4, 2002, Proyecto ACCESO facilitated its signature Oral Advocacy I workshop with an experienced team of public defenders and jurists in Santiago de Chile.

August 26, 2002 Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), Mexico, Proyecto ACCESO trained more than 70 law agents, private lawyers, judges and law students drom both side of the border in Ley + Media Workshop.
