ACCESO Tec GPS Unit 4 Human Rights Monitor Put to Good Use

Throughout the second half of October, the Legal Observer project on the U.S.-Mexico Border used ACCESO Tec's new GPS Unit 4 Human Rights Monitor for its activities.

Developed in collaboration with Rhinocerus S.A. of Tijuana, Mexico, the GPS Unit 4 is a handheld unit which locates the person carrying the unit live in real time on the web.

With this new technology, the lawyers and law students volunteering with the coalition of ACLU, La Raza Lawyers Association, National Lawyers' Guild and American Immigration Lawyers Association are safer and can be located anywhere in San Diego and Imperial Counties as they monitor the activities of the border vigilantes, Minutemen and other groups that are patrolling the border looking for undocumented migrants.

Several news stations from both sides of the border as well as the San Diego Union Tribune have reported on this legal innovation and the role that ACCESO Tec is playing in ensuring the safety of the corps of volunteers.
