The ACCESO team works with all the sectors in the administration of justice. We are judges, prosecutors, public defenders, legal educators, and journalists. We are building new systems for conflict resolution that are fair, efficient and transparent.

ACCESO Director’s Message – 2006

Dear Friends:

What a year! 2005 was filled with wonderful events for ACCESO as we expanded our product line and our programs throughout Latin America.

ARBITRATION

ACCESO’s arbitration workshop is designed to provide both specific and general notions on international arbitration. We first analyze and compare the various international fora that exist for arbitration including the International Chamber of Commerce in London, UNCITRAL, and the American Arbitration Association. We then explore the frameworks established by many international conventions that govern arbitration. Then practical role-playing exercises are faciliated to permit the participants to assume the roles of the parties in a simulated oral arbitration process.

Participants present audience, argue their respective cases and go through all aspects of an arbitration hearing. Utilizing ACCESO’s casebook, the Trainers provide real-life examples and problems for the simulations, using ACCESO’s patented methodology of "learning by doing".

The arbitration course then is a good combination of theory and practice as it empowers the participants with skills to become adept advocates in an international arbitration hearing.
