Maxwell Gould received his Juris Doctor degree from New York
University School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts Degree from
Harvard University. After clerking for one year for a federal
judge in the Southern District of New York, Mr. Gould joined
the Legal Aid Society of New York City in 1986.
He has worked in both the Society's Civil Division, representing
clients in housing, benefits, family, and disability mattters,
and the Criminal Defense Division, representing clients charged
with felonies, misdemeanors and violations. He currently is
a staff attorney in the Criminal Defense Division's Manhattan
office, specializing in representing mentally ill, chemically
addicted clients.
Mr. Gould teaches Oral Advocacy
with Proyecto ACCESO. He has taught courses in Chile, Costa
Rica and Nicaragua.
