director meets with el Presidente"
In May 2003, James Cooper spent several days in Asuncion visiting
congress people, members of the judiciary, prosecutors and defenders
to discuss reform efforts. Claudio Pavlic and Pepe Martinzez, from
ACCESO's Chilean team, had just returned from Asuncion only a month
before when they led a highly praised program in oral
advocacy for public defenders.
When he was in Asuncion, Jamie visited with President Luis Angel
Gonzalez
Macchi and discussed globalization, corruption and basketball for
an
upcoming ACCESOVision special presentation. Stay tuned to this website

information in the coming months. President Gonzalez leaves office
in
August 2003 and Nicanor Duarte takes over as head of state. ACCESO
