ORAL ADVOCACY WORKSHOP As various Latin American countries move their criminal procedure from the inquisitorial to adversarial system, there is much need for oral advocacy skills training. Oral trials are becoming more common and Latin American lawyers must now learn to use expert witnesses and the art of cross-examination. Transparent and fairer criminal trials are on their way. Judges must learn how to hear oral testimony, rather than read the written testimonies to which they are accustomed. With the transparency that such additions bring to the criminal process, oral advocacy skills have a new premium. ACCESO Capacitación Trainers from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, and Mexico are empowering a new generation of oral advocacy specialists across the region. Working with internationally-recognized trial academy attorneys from the United States, our Trainers provide workshop participants with new skillsets using mock trials, testimony simulations, and interactive video critiques. The oral advocacy workshop from ACCESO Capacitación takes place over three to five days in a very intensive environment. It is a judical reform bootcamp for the rough and ready. When our participants emerge with their new skillsets and ACCESO certificate in hand, they are ready for even the most difficult judge. As many Latin American states undergo a process of reform in their respective criminal procedures and transition from the largely written and closed inquisitorial system to a more open, oral, and public adversarial system, ACCESO Capacitación provides lawyers with the esential skills to make a difference. Success requires preparation and the right tools. ACCESO Capacitación continues to have the good fortune of building a team of trainers with extensive experience in judicial reform settings and a team of curriculum builders that finetune the tools necessary for success in these new legal environments. | | Newsletter Registration | | ACCESO Initiatives | | | | | |
