José Martínez is a Chilean lawyer, who received his el Grado de Licenciado en Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales en la Universidad de Chile.
He was one of Chile’s first nationally selected public defenders and has successfully represented indigenous leaders in the internationally watched "El Caso Mapuche" in April 2003.
He has studied advanced oral advocacy at California Western School of Law and has been an instructor with Proyecto ACCESO since 2002.
Instructor on Oral Advocacy program of Proyecto ACCESO since the year 2001.
He currently serves as the Regional Public Defender for the IX Región de la Araucanía in Chile.
